Was a Fundraiser & Silent Auction - It happened February 15th, 2025.
It was an opening night at the SWANA Rose Community Center for a special evening featuring a silent auction fundraiser and an inspiring art exhibition from Gaza. The exhibition ran for a month, but this opening night event was your chance to gather in support of a meaningful cause with our community.
In partnership with the Community Free Store PDX, we also collected resources to benefit our houseless neighbors in Portland. Contributions were welcome but not required—your presence made a difference.
It was an extraordinary art exhibition celebrating the talent and heritage of a remarkable artist from Gaza.

Bashar Alimour is a recent pharmacy graduate from the University of Palestine and a rising artist living in besieged Gaza. Despite the challenges he’s faced, Bashar has turned to art as a source of strength, resilience, and self-expression. For him, creating is a way to experience freedom.
Through his powerful designs, Bashar sheds light on the struggles of Palestinians and shares their enduring hope and humanity with the world. One of his guiding inspirations is the quote, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."
